Helpful Hints
Bread that is baked in the bread machine often has a tougher crust and a chewier texture than bread baked in the oven. You can bake the dough created by your bread machine in your oven.
Set your bread machine to the dough setting and let the machine do the kneading. When the dough has finished rising in the machine, take the dough out, punch it down, add flour if necessary (if it is sticky add just enough flour to prevent sticking and work into the dough), and shape the dough into a loaf. Place dough on a cooking sheet. Let the dough rise again (up to double). Bake in a 350°F oven for 25-35 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
If you prefer soft crusts on your bread, use this tip. Rub butter all over the crust as soon as you remove the bread from the oven—the butter will keep your crust soft.
