Sarah’s Delectable Herb and Lemon Salmon recipe gives you step by step instructions detailing how to cook the perfect salmon fillet. This recipe is easy enough to be executed by first time chefs and tasty enough to be served by a professional chef.
Sarah’s Delectable Herb and Lemon Salmon Recipe:
Difficulty: Easy
Serves: Two
Ingredients:
- One salmon filet
- Three tablespoons salted sweet cream butter
- One lemon
- One tablespoon garlic powder
- Two cloves of fresh minced garlic
- Two teaspoons parsley
- One teaspoon onion powder
- One teaspoon dill
- One teaspoon Italian seasoning
- One sprig of rosemary (approximately ten needles)
- Salt
- Pepper
Execution:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- After rinsing off the salmon, place the salmon filet on an 18 inch long piece of aluminum foil. Fold up the sides of the piece of aluminum foil to act as a barrier preventing the lemon juice and herbs from escaping the foil.
- Pour the fresh juice squeezed from one half of the lemon onto the meat of the salmon filet. Next, place three pats of butter (about one tablespoon thick) on top of the salmon filet evenly spaced.
- Evenly distribute the minced garlic over the salmon filet.
- Use a pepper shaker to sprinkle black pepper over the entire filet to make a thin layer of spice.
- Add the remaining spices to the salmon filet in the order that they appear on the ingredients list. Make sure to evenly distribute each of the spices over the filet to ensure that the flavor is consistent throughout the filet. Consider placing the rosemary needles underneath the salmon filet to encourage the rosemary flavor to leach upwards into the meat.
- After all of the spices are evenly distributed throughout the salmon filet, fold up the aluminum foil around the salmon to make a primitive baking dish. This will seal in the flavors of the salmon and herbs while simultaneously keeping in the heat generated during the cooking process.
- Place the aluminum foil pouch onto the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake for twenty minutes; during this time resist the urge to check on the filet.
- After twenty minutes, check on the salmon filet and determine if it is properly cooked by using a meat thermometer. The salmon needs to have an internal temperature of at least 155 degrees F before it can be considered safe to consume. Return the salmon to the oven and check its temperature in five minute intervals until it is completely cooked.
- Consider serving the salmon filet with homemade mashed potatoes.
