Cooking Instructions
Quiche often makes a delicious snack, but it is a nutritional meal that makes for a great breakfast as well. There are many other ingredients that may be substituted for the traditional ones in quiche, that give it a new unique flavor. Corn is a delicious addition when it is mixed in with the egg mix, and chicken may be added to the pie as a replacement for the bacon or sausage, and it goes well with the other ingredients. The pie may also be made as a sort of pizza, by using less egg, and placing sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, broccoli, or slices of ham on top of the egg mix, with shredded cheese sprinkled on top. For this type of quiche, it may be easier to cook the pie shell with the egg first, until the egg mix begins to solidify, and then add the other ingredients on top of the egg, sprinkle them with cheese, and cook until the cheese has melted over the toppings. Grated Parmesan or Asiago cheese is grate when sprinkled over this pizza-like quiche. Quiche muffins may easily be made by using all of the ingredients in the egg mix in addition to one and a half cups of corn muffin mix. To make these muffins, simple whisk the egg mix and muffin mix together in a large mixing bowl, and place the mix into a greased pie pan, or make actual muffins by placing the mix into the top of the individual holes in a greased muffin pan. Bake the muffins in the oven for about 20 minutes. Then let them cool, and serve.
