Four easy recipes are introduced to provide good taste and good nutrition for children. These recipes are also ideal for busy moms, taking less than five minutes to make

Probably one of the hardest jobs for moms is finding recipes that children enjoy and at the same time are healthy. Kids hate the word “vegetables,” and would prefer gummy bears and chocolate cookies.

Here are four quick, healthy snacks a mom can make in five minutes.

Cucumber Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of white bread
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 packet of Italian seasoning
  • 1 pack of whipped cream cheese

Directions:

  1. Mix cream cheese and Italian seasoning together in a bowl.
  2. Peel cucumber and cut into thin rounds.
  3. Cut the crusts off six pieces of bread.
  4. Stack the bread together in sandwich form and cut into four, smaller squares.
  5. Spread the cheese mix onto two slices of bread and place a slice of cucumber in the middle. Repeat.
  6. Don’t tell kids about the cucumber; usually the cheese mix will hide both the sight and taste of it. By the time they realize what’s in it, it’ll be too good to put down!

Peanut Butter Delight

Ingredients Needed: 1 cup powdered milk, 6 large scoops of peanut butter, and 1 scoop of baking candy (mini M&M’s, little chocolates, etc.)

Instructions: Mix the powdered milk and peanut butter together. Then add the candy. This snack takes all of two minutes, and gives kids a great taste while adding a great source of protein and fiber. Caution: very sticky.

Ham and Cheese Crackers

Ingredients: 1 packet of ham (lunchmeat-style), 1 package of cheese (any kind will do), and 1 box of wheat crackers

Instructions: Place several crackers on a plate. Slice cheese into little squares and put onto the cracker. Add some ham and serve. This snack also works great with peanut butter and cheese. This is a great treat to have ready when the kids get home from school.

Crepes

Ingredients Needed: Strawberries, whipped cream, pancake batter.

Instructions: The pancakes need to be cooked first; a box of Bisquik is a great investment. Try to make the pancakes as thin as possible. Once they’re done, slice the strawberries and scatter them on the inside of the pancake, then add whipped cream. The great thing about this recipe is that it can accommodate any need. Instead of a dessert crepe, a meal could be created by adding some ranch dressing, ham slices, and chunks of cheddar cheese. Kids love making this, and they love adding some outrageous ingredients like chocolate syrup with pepperoni slices.

These recipes will insure a healthy but tasty snack for little ones, as well as relaxation for any mom stressing about what to get for their kids.
