Who doesn't love strawberries? This tasty drink recipe is not only healthy for you, but it is simple to make, and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

While strawberries are good to eat whole and raw, there are many tasty strawberry recipes that can help provide you with some variety. One easy strawberry recipe is for a refreshing frozen beverage.

Why Strawberries?

Strawberries are one of the most delicious items to frequent lists of superfoods that appear in health reports in all forms of media, making them a popular ingredient in a number of recipes. Aside from more than a full day's supply of vitamin C, one serving of strawberries also serves up a number of antioxidant phytonutrients that are important for brain health.

Strawberries are also high in fiber, which is welcome news for many adults who have a hard time incorporating the recommended daily 30 grams of fiber into their diets. Fiber from foods like strawberries is important for heart health, reducing the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) in your body.

Easy Strawberry Drink Recipe

Ingredients and Tools

  • 1 pint of hulled, fresh strawberries
  • 5-10 ice cubes, depending on size
  • Cranberry juice cocktail
  • A blender

Place the ice cubes into the blender, one at a time, using the ice crusher pulse setting to chop up the ice into a more drinkable consistency. After the ice cubes, pour in a splash of cranberry juice cocktail - just enough to give the blender enough liquid to blend the strawberries. Then add the strawberries, a few at a time, with the blender on liquefy, until the entire pint has been blended with the crushed ice.

Pour into tall glasses. Use a straw if you'd like. Enjoy.

This easy strawberry drink will taste the best if you use the reddest, ripest strawberries you can find, and cut out any excess white or green spots before adding them to the blender.

If fresh strawberries are not in season or are otherwise too expensive, frozen strawberries can be substituted. Do not thaw them; when using frozen strawberries, omit the ice cubes and increase the amount of cranberry juice cocktail.

You can make the drink recipe healthier by using low-calorie cranberry juice cocktail, or using cranberry juice cocktail that has been fortified with extra calcium or other vitamins.

You can make this strawberry drink recipe slightly less healthy, but more suitable for adult entertaining, by kicking it up with a shot or two of light rum. This will be one of the best strawberry daiquiris you or your friends will ever taste, because bars and clubs don't use a whole pint of the fresh strawberries when mixing their drinks.
