This tasty sauce is suitable for many dishes including fish, seafood and vegetables. With a little variation, you can make several easy butter sauces with this recipe.

Butter is one of the most delicious and natural ingredients that you can add to most dishes.

The tender and sweet flavor of butter will enhance the flavor of whatever food to which it is added. The butter flavor in this sauce is enhanced with salt, paprika and pepper which will complement many dishes. The flour gives this butter sauce a creamy texture that is hard to resist.

Versatile Butter Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 T Butter (used in first part of recipe)
  • 2 T Flour
  • 1/8 t Paprika
  • 1/8 t Pepper
  • 1/4 t Salt
  • 1 1/2 t Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 T Butter (added later in preparation)

Versatile Butter Sauce Directions

  1. Mix the seasonings with the flour and set aside.
  2. Over low to medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Blend the seasoned flour into the melted butter in a small saucepan.
  4. When the butter and flour are well mixed, add the water and lemon juice. Blend thoroughly. Continue heating until the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat.
  5. Add the other tablespoon of the butter gradually in small pieces. Mix the butter in well after each addition. When you are finished blending in the last of the butter, the sauce is ready to be served poured over the dish or on the side. Adjust the seasoning as necessary before serving.
