Watermelon Grape Sorbet
Preparation and Freezing Time: 2.5 hours
Serves: 8-10
Ingredients:
2 cups cold water
1/2 cup sugar
3 cups seedless watermelon, chopped
1 cup seedless grapes
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
Directions:
Use a medium saucepan and combine water with sugar. Boil over high heat and stir every 1 to 2 minutes. Boil until sugar dissolves. Set aside.
Use a food processor, add watermelon with grapes and puree. Transfer to a medium metal bowl along with sugar syrup, lemon juice, and salt.
Pour into a freezer dish and cover.
Freeze for 6 hours until firm.
Before serving, allow watermelon grape sorbet to soften at room temperature for 5 minutes. Use a butter knife and break into sections. Transfer to a food processor and pulse until smooth.
Strawberry Blackberry Sorbet
Preparation and Freezing Time: 5 hours
Serves: 6-8
Ingredients
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup blackberries, sliced
1 Tbsp. lime juice
1 tsp. salt
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Boil over medium heat and stir slowly until sugar dissolves.
Use a food processor and puree strawberries, blackberries, lime juice, and salt.
Combine the sugar syrup with the pureed treat and pour into a freezer dish.
Freeze for 4 hours or until firm.
Remove from freezer and serve.
Plum Orange Sorbet
Preparation and Freezing Time: 2.5 hours
Serves: 8-10
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups plums, sliced
1 Tbsp. lime juice
2 cups fresh orange juice
1 tsp. freshly grated orange zest
Directions:
Use a medium saucepan and combine water and granulated sugar. Simmer over medium high heat until sugar dissolves.
Use a food processor to puree plums with its juice until smooth. Use a medium metal bowl to transfer pureed plums. Add syrup mixture from step 1, lime juice, orange juice, and orange zest.
Freeze until mildly firm.
Transfer firm mixture to the food processor and mix for 2 minutes ,or until smooth.
Place plum orange treat into a freezer container.
Freeze until sorbet is firm. Allow approximately 2 hours.
Sorbet are a great summer treat for hot days sitting in the backyard or hanging in the neighborhood park. They can be enjoyed as a after-meal dessert or as an afternoon snack.
