Spicy shish kabobs are easy to prepare, easy to grill, and they have incredible flavor. Consider grilling the kabobs all through the year.

Feeling the winter blues? Consider bringing summer back, by grilling some spicy shish kabobs on the grill. Put a few extra layers of clothes on and step outside to grill a great meal and sniff the delightful aroma of summer.

Shish kabobs are really easy to make and the clean up takes only a few minutes. Creating the kabobs is the time consuming part, so that when guests arrive, the host only needs to spend a few minutes grilling the food. Guests can also pick and choose their favorites off of the kabob, so it can be a great choice for picky guests (who like spicy food!).

Here is a spicy shish kabob recipe that is sure to warm up family members and guests. For some reason, when these ingredients are marinated overnight, the meat takes on a little extra heat than normal. Be ready to serve some water to your guests while they are enjoying the meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 red peppers
  • 2 yellow peppers
  • 2 orange peppers
  • 2 green Peppers
  • 2 red onion
  • 2 packages of mushrooms
  • 2 large sirloin steak cut into 1 ½ inch thick pieces

Marinade

  • ½ Olive Oil
  • 1 ¼ Cup of Soy Sauce
  • 1 Cup of Honey
  • 1 Cup of Rice wine
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 3 tsp of fresh ginger root
  • 2 tsp of Sesame Oil
  • ¼ Cup of Tapatio

Combine all of the marinade ingredients and blend them together well. Pour a small amount of the marinade in a bowl to brush on the shish kabobs while grilling them. Pour the larger amount into 1 or 2 large freezer bags and add the meat to the bag. Seal the bag, and place all of the bags in the refrigerator overnight.

One hour before grilling, add the vegetables to the marinade along with the meat. This will give the vegetables a little extra spice and a lot of flavor!

Rub the stainless steel skewers with olive oil. Place the beef and vegetable ingredients on the skewers and alternate colors, vegetables and the meat. Place them on the grill for approximately seven minutes on each side or until they are done on each side. Brush with the fresh marinade while cooking, (the marinade that did not have the raw beef in it).

What to Serve With Shish Kabobs

Shish kabobs are a great option for guests as both the meat and vegetables are offered one serving. Other options that a host can serve include fresh bread, a colorful salad, baked potatoes and/or some rice pilaf to make it a well rounded meal.
