Served warm or cold and complimented by a thin spread of butter; Sarah’s Deliciously Delectable Herb and Garlic Infused Bread is a definite crowd and tummy pleaser.

Important: The proportions in this recipe yield 2 or 3 loaves of bread that are large enough to serve twelve people. Simply halve the ingredients to make a more modest batch.

Sarah’s Deliciously Delectable Herb and Garlic Infused Bread:

Difficulty: Medium

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 packets of active dry yeast
  • 4 cups warm water
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 cups extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves of fresh garlic
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh rosemary needles
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
  • 12 cups of bread flower

Execution:

  1. In a large bowl; gently mix together the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Be careful that the water isn’t scorching because it will kill the yeast; warm water will activate it. Set this bowl aside until the yeast has made the mixture become frothy (about five or ten minutes)
  2. Using a sharp knife: mince the fresh garlic, dill, cilantro, and halve the rosemary needles.
  3. Once yeast is frothy add the fresh herbs, garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and 6 cups of flour to the bowl; stir until completely combined.
  4. Slowly stir in remaining 6 cups of flour; dough will be stiff.
  5. Turn out dough on floured surface and knead for at least ten minutes. You may consider kneading dough in two or three separate batches making two or three separate loaves. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place dough in an oiled bowl, turn once to coat the top and bottom of the dough with oil. Cover the bowl with a dish towel and allow the dough to rise until it has doubled in size.
  7. Once doubled, punch dough down and allow to rise for another ten or fifteen minutes.
  8. Bake loaves in a 350 degree preheated oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, sprinkle parmesan cheese onto the top of the loaf an place back in the oven for an additional five minutes.
  9. Allow to cool at least fifteen minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Sarah's Deliciously Delectable Herb and Garlic Infused Bread goes very well with this recipe for spaghetti marinara sauce.
