» Feature Writer June Chua - My encounter with divine french bread

Nothing beats the smell (and taste) of fresh-baked bread, especially one that seems almost holy. I still have that photo from 1995 with me and two fresh loaves standing at the door of the "pilgrim's house" in Solesmes, France. The bread from that village was divine! It might have helped that Solesmes is the location of an ancient monk's order where we heard ancient chants by the monks. Truly an out-of-this-world experience.Abbaye Saint Pierre is where the Gregorian chant originated. Bread is glorious!
